Its only fitting this is the birthplace of the man who wrote that immortal line "Above us only sky"
I was not supposed to go out with the camera today, I had too many things to do but when I saw the cloud formations I really could not stay away and let it pass.
I thought long and hard about this image, in the end I decided to upload it.
These kinds of shots, and meaningful descriptions like this are exactly why I chose to feature you in my journal. You just keep pumping out breath-taking pictures. You're exactly right about people missing too much. People are too busy with their everyday worries to stop and enjoy beautiful creations of nature. The cool colors of this image are great. The fact that you captured not only sky, but also the architecture is sort of like a shot where "Nature meets Man" and I think it simply adds to the message you're trying to portray. Beautiful capture! I'm certainly glad you decided to go out and shoot on this day.
the sky is obviously the main feature in the HDR, and it's wonderful. using the lens @ 13mm enables the sky to really overwhelm the landscape below. the colors of the clouds are great too. almost looks like an electric storm!
if you were able to do 3 longer exposures, the water would reflect the buildings & clouds better, which might really look more surreal that way. my only other critique (and this is because i am anal)..there are 2 dust spots on the lens - one of the far left side a bit more than half way up, and also, one on the far right side, same area. nothing huge, but like i said, i am anal!!!
you always achieve well balanced HDR photos, and that is why i enjoy your work Mike.
It's a common thing for human beings to be rushing around to nowhere. Rushing to get lunch, dinner, breakfast. Rushing to their jobs, to their homes, to their favorite TV programs. They are surrounded by concrete, asphalt and plastic. You show that rather well in the lower half of the city shot. The other half, of course, is the bright blue that people forget is there. They don't look at the blooming trees, the robin's egg blue sky, the flowering plants and the nature surrounding us and calming us. This is why I can't live in a city. I'd go nuts. I need the opposite. I need the warmth of the sun, the sound of leaves in the wind, birds chirping, racoons rummaging through my garbage-what have you! Great shot, Mike!
Sorry, very creatively inlcined today. And it's rainy.
