Lets talk about the photo in general first. The sky isn't that uncommon in the photography world today, and neither is a plane. However, you have captured more than just the sky, you have this very interesting cloud pattern that directs the color concentration of the sky away from the usual blue and more towards black and white and every gray there is in between. In addition, the silhouette of the plane and it's size compared to the rest of the photo makes this photo stand out.
Color wise, as I have mentioned before, you have done a great job breaking away from the usual pattern or habit of one tone blue covering the entire sky. The blue you that you have plays an interesting role in regards to that it ranges from light blue to dark blue and eventually black. The whites and it's black counterpart balances very well giving the photograph an over all even tone.
Subject wise, the plane successfully establish the feeling of going away hence the name "Heading for Home". In addition, the size of the plane compared to the clouds and the sky gives off the feeling that we as humans are still very small and powerless in face of mother nature. The fact that the plane is heading into this massive cloud formation strengthens that feeling. The plane is presented in the form of a silhouette, be it accidental or intentional, plays a very good role in regards of contrast, in a way, it makes this small part of the photo stand out against the white surroundings.
The clouds are probably my favorite part of this entire photo. The left section of the photo presents just this massive wall of cloud, which makes the photo more dynamic. the clouds on the bottom shows a very good texture of the clouds, as well as reminds me of paintings of heaven. In a way, it seems like the plane is "flying into heaven"
The photography over all is stunning to say the least, and having see your other works, it's nice to see something differs from your usual subject. Please keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to see your future works.
Here you see clouds and the silhouette of a plane.
