Colour means so much, sometimes we need to see more than there is, the vibrancy of the grass when its cast against the light of the morning sun. The Red of autumnal leaves not quiet in shade.
Never be afraid of colour and experimenting with it in your images.
Looks like you were up, and around with your new camera on a beautiful morning Mike. The colours in the clouds were captured nicely, I like the subtle orange colours on display. The lush green grass is being lit by the morning sun rather well, and I do enjoy the natural curve between the grass, and soil in the foreground.
As for the rest of the composition, I would have cropped the half cut off tree on the very left of the images horizon. The foreground tree works well in the composition I feel, but could definitely be better exposure wise. The colours, and detail is all there at the bottom with the late Autumn colours in the surrounding bush, but then flows into a complete silhouette. This is because of the harsh light in the area of the rising sun, which is also off on exposure. All that's needed is a darker exposure to be blended in to retain the accurate light, colour, and detail.
One other suggestion would be to maybe try a second, and maybe even a third shot on top of this to get the full foreground tree in the shot, and more of that beautiful sky. It feels a tad tight at the moment, and I think a couple of shots stitched together would work quite well.
Overall, a very inviting image, with vibrancy being its strong point in my opinion. Keep up the morning shooting man!
